Who I Am and Why I Design Gardens for Real People
About me
Before Garden Design
My route into garden design wasn't a typical one. I spent over a decade as a detective in London, including several years investigating cyber crime. It was a rewarding career, but after taking a career break I found myself looking for something more creative and outdoors.
Why Gardens?
That career break gave me the opportunity to retrain and follow a lifelong passion for plants and gardens. I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Garden Design and discovered how rewarding it is to create outdoor spaces that make a real difference to people's everyday lives.
I founded Moorcroft Garden Design to create gardens that are beautiful, practical and designed around the people who use them. My work often incorporates accessible layouts, layered planting and sensory elements, creating spaces that are as enjoyable to use as they are to look at.
Today
In 2026, I was selected as one of the designers for RTÉ One's Super Garden, where I created Bear's Wild Corner for Maria and her son Bear. The project brought together contemporary exotic planting, thoughtful accessibility and practical family living in a garden designed to be enjoyed by everyone.
Today I work with clients across Dublin and the surrounding areas, designing gardens that balance strong layouts, carefully considered planting and practical solutions. Whether it's a complete garden transformation, a planting plan or a small front garden, my aim is always the same: to create outdoor spaces that feel personal, welcoming and built around the way you live.
