I’m Emily Moorcroft, a Dublin-based garden designer with a slightly unusual background. I spent over a decade as a detective in London, including several years investigating cyber crime, before taking a career break that gave me the space to rethink what I wanted from life.
I retrained, completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Garden Design, and realised how much joy I get from creating outdoor spaces that make people feel happy, calm and connected.
I now run Moorcroft Garden Design, where I focus on accessible, sensory-rich gardens that are shaped around the people who use them, not just how they look. My goal is simple: to create thoughtful gardens that genuinely improve everyday life.
In 2026, I was selected as one of the designers for RTÉ’s Super Garden, where I created Bear’s Wild Corner for Maria and Bear. The garden brought together playful planting, accessible design and practical family living, with a strong focus on creating a space that felt joyful, usable and full of life. It was a brilliant opportunity to show the kind of gardens I care about most: spaces that are beautiful, personal and genuinely make a difference.
